California Early Head Start



What is Early Head Start?

Its mission is simple: to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children, and promote healthy family functioning. Learn more about Early Head Start

During the 2008 program year California Early Head Start programs were funded to enroll 7610 children and pregnant women.

Of those, 43.7% were enrolled in center based programs (includes combination program enrollment option), 49.8% in home-based programs, 5.6% in family child care and .9% funded in locally designed options
