In partnership with CHSSCO the Association seeks to create a visible
presence for Head Start at the state level and to assist in the development
of State and Federal partnerships among Head Start and other interested
stakeholders.
Family Development Certificate In Partnership with Los Angeles County Office of Education and Cornell
University’s Department of Human Development
The Family Development Credential Program is a professional development
and credentialing program that provides front line family workers with the
knowledge and skills they need to coach families to set and reach their
own goals for healthy self-reliance in their communities. The program
focuses on a strength-based partnership approach that develops workers
both professionally and personally.
The California Preschool Energy Efficiency Program is a collaboration of
organizations: the California Department of Education, the California Head
Start Association, the Low Income Investment Fund and Willdan Energy
Solutions. The goal of the program is to provide energy efficiency upgrades
to help control energy costs and reduce operating expenses. The program is currently active in areas serviced by Southern California Edison and
Pacific Gas & Electric.
Under a grant from the Packard Foundation, CHSA's Head Start/Preschool
for All Leadership Project goals are to review current policies as presented
in pending legislation or proposed ballot language. To draft guiding principals
for Head Start/Preschool for All partnerships. To host regional/cluster
meetings with key local stakeholders to circulate guiding principals,
disseminate research information and emerging models. To produce a
resource guide on program models with supporting fiscal information.
As a sub-contractor to the California Dental Health Foundation, CHSA has
developed curriculum and is providing trainings to reach a goal of over 450
key staff over the next 3 years on oral health prevention and hygiene. The
purpose of the trainings is to increase awareness and knowledge of parents
and Head Start staff about the importance of early oral health care and the
necessary actions needed to prevent dental decay.
Under a grant from the Packard Foundation, CHSA is working to develop
a core group of parent advocates to work in their local communities and
statewide on issues related to children and families.
